A Tribute to Sadie

For those of you who have not heard...two weeks ago Sadie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocitic Leukemia. It's a cancer that attacks the blood stream and moves extremely quickly in canine's. Unfortunately, we had to put Sadie down this morning. My Mom and I took her in and were there for the injection. It was very peaceful and I knew I had made the right decision.

I got Sadie for my 21st birthday almost 7 years ago. She was a very happy pup who loved to please and loved to eat! When I was living alone my senior year she would sit out on the deck and at any movement in the bushes she would let out a low growl. Of course, if she would have seen anything she would of come running to me but I appreciated the advanced notice. I am very saddened by her early passing but am comforted by the fact that she lived a wonderful life.

I may have gone a little overboard on the posts but what the heck...!

Sadie and Carson

I am no sure if Carson picked up on the fact that Sadie was sick but it seems like in the last month he has been much more in-tune with cuddling with Sadie and bringing her toys. Here are a couple of photos I've taken of the two of them over the last week. Carson will soon forget Sadie but at least we'll have these pictures to show him when he gets older.

Scooter

Grammie bought Carson this cool Scooter/Plasma a few weekends ago. Carson goes so fast on it we had to get him a helmet...no fear for this little guy! When he really gets excited his tongue sticks out...too funny!

2 Toddler Cousins

I must say it has been a lot of fun seeing Carson and Amelia interact these days. Although Amelia is 7 months older they have both hit the todder "No, Mine" stage at the same time. A few weeks ago we had the kids over and I watched the two of them play tug-a-war with a container, each of them shouting, "Mine" for about 2 minutes straight. It seems Amelia generally wins these encounters, but the good thing is when you ask them to share they share very well...On the other hand, we grown-ups do enjoy sitting back and letting these two hash it out on their own terms.

Daycare Update

I'm so happy to finally say that Carson got into the Nike daycare center. He has been on the wait list for 2 years and with the expansion he was finally accepted! We think that he has been in a good place but it will be so nice to have him close to us and at one of the highest ranking daycare's in the state. Yahoo!!

Hillsboro Farmer's Market

A few weekends ago Grammie, Aunt Kristen, the Cousins and I went to one of the Farmer's Markets. It was Carson's first ride on the Max but I think his favorite part was watching the musician sing and play his guitar. There was only one hiccup when I left my chair and some old guy came and sat in it. Carson stood up for me and ran over to the chair yelling "Momma, Momma"...the guy hung around for a bit while but once he left Carson made sure I knew it was open again. What a good little guy!!

Sad-Happy-Silly Faces

The other day Carson was giving me a major pouty face so I did one and he started laughing. He's picked up on it quite well so we took a video to share with everyone.

Mr. Moose and Cowboy

Mr. Moose is in the front entryway as you enter the house. When Sadie was unavailable or unwilling to play with Carson Mr. Moose was the next on the list. Carson would go in the front entryway and sit in the windowsill and talk to Mr. Moose. Sometimes he'd close the room and they would entertain each other. :)

Sunriver Museum

Grammie, Carson, and I stopped in at the High Desert Museum while in Sunriver. It was a pretty neat place. Here are just a few photos from our quick trip...Carson will definitely enjoy this place as he gets a little older...

Bike Ride

While in Sunriver we hooked up the buggy and went for a couple bike rides up to the park. It was all up hill to the park (downhill home, yahoo!) but we managed to make it and Carson had a blast!
