Halloween

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. Carson got to dress up as The Hulk and I must say he played the role extremely well! Once we decided about a month ago that he was going to be Hulk we bought him a few toys to get him excited about the costume. It seemed to work because he was having a blast all night. In total we hit about 6 houses and it took as much time to get him ready as it did to hit all them but it was all so much fun. I can't wait until next year!

Halloween ~ Getting Dressed

The bodysuit took a few minutes to get used to but once he saw himself in the mirror he was sold...

As surprised as I was Carson was great at letting me put the face paint on him. He got to sit on Mommy's stool and watch in the mirror which made it much more fun!

And a little hair spray die to seal the deal...

Halloween ~ First Treat

Before we headed over to Grammie and Grandpa's we swung by a couple of our neighbor's homes. They were waiting for us and could hardly recognize our little Hulkster. Carson was a bit shy but eventually got his Trick-or-Treat and Thank You in. After the 3rd house he figured out that when he said this he got something in his little bucket. These are the photos of his first house...

Pumpkin Decorating

Mr. Speedster!

I finally got the video to load! Carson's teachers sent this to me on Monday - they couldn't believe how good he did with the starter blocks. We could have a future track star on our hands!!

Women's Half Marathon

Hi everyone,

Well, I'm happy to announce that the 1/2 marathon I've been training for, for about 4 months has finally come and gone! I believe that the most I had ever run before training for this event was 3 miles. One day Kristen told me she was running it and that I should too...I thought she was crazy but after thinking about it I thought it would be a good challenge. Boy was I right!! It took everything in me to stick to my training schedule. Despite fog, rain, darkness, humidity, early mornings (4:30...yes, that's AM), a bruised foot, a coyote (I passed one once and nearly sh*t my pants), a puppy, Carson, etc. I did it and I surpassed what I had ever thought I could do. I finished 3rd in the downtown run at 1 hour 56 minutes...that's an 8'43" mile. My goal was 2 hours and I thought that would be pushing it and it really was. Once I finished the race I checked my heart rate monitor and I maxed out at 190 (highest I've seen on myself so far is 181) and my average was 174 (usually steady at 160). But in the words of Carson "I did it!" and aside from being slightly tired today (Monday) I feel very good...of course that could be because I treated myself to a Chocolate & Papaya Wrap, an hour massage, and a manicure-pedicure this morning :) All-in-all I am very happy that I signed up for this event and even happier that I followed through with it but really, let's be honest...there is no reason (that I can think of) to be running this many miles...it could verge on insanity! So, I will continue to run but I think 6 miles will be my max from here on out :)

With that said...here is the link to my Nike+ run and a couple photos from the finishline...

(the drop at the end of my run was the damn stop lights...there's nothing more frustrating than being in sprint mode at the end of a big run just to be stopped!)

The Pumpkin Patch

I can't believe it's already time to be going to the pumpkin patch! It seems like October is just flying by. We tried a new place this year and it was very age-appropriate for Carson. He got to do lots of things and he had a blast with all of it...
The train ride was definitely his favorite activity. We took it out to the pumpkin patch and it went through a little barn with scary Halloween decorations. He gave us his little 'I don't know about this but I'm glad Mom is here to assure me' chuckle.

Here is a little photo of the little kids hay-maze. He made his way through it all by himelsef...

Another favorite...the wheelbarrow ride by Dad

The pumpkin patch - we got 3 pretty good sized pumpkins. Carson had fun running through the field and touching (sometimes kicking) the pumpkins.

And we can't forget about his very first pony ride! This was pretty funny...he couldn't wait to have his turn "My turn next" must of been repeated 100 times while we waited. He was one of the first kids to hop on but right before they were ready to get started he started to have second thoughts "I want down" but he stayed on and grew to enjoy the time. Here are is a progression of photos I took from beginning to end...
