Going on a Trip

Night Time at the Ryan's
Savannah has been pretty consistent with her sleep/wake cycle from when she was in the womb. Every night she has her awake period from about 7-8/8:30. This is also when Carson sits down for his evening show so it's become their bonding time. Carson loves to have her sit with him and he is very adamant that she gets her binky at ever little peep. Although she probably doesn't need it, it certainly makes CJ happy to give it to her.
Just chillin' watching Barney (yep, the big purple dinasour is still around and making kids happy!)...
When dealing with Savannah's crying, Carson has 2 ideas he always brings to the table to help calm her down 1) "Here you go Savannah, here is your binky" or 2) "I think she needs her Big Brother" (this is usually when Dan or I are holding her).
Look at Mommy!

Stretches & Poops
Every 3 hours (during the day) Savannah gets a wake-up call for her next feeding. She never fails with a good stretch and poop...I should probably get it on video for her to watch when she gets older!

Big Boy Writings
I can't believe what our little Man is doing in school these days. Every day he signs his name when he goes into class. In September all it was, was a quick 1-second scribble and now he sits down and writes his whole name by himself. It wasn't until he wanted to write with me the other night when I realized how many letters he knew how to make. Amazing that he can do all this at 3 1/2. We sat at the table for 20 minutes and he told me what name he wanted to write. I told him the letter to put down and here is what he came up with...
Great concentration...
Savvy's First Bath
Oh, Boy did Savannah ever like her first bath. This little girl is amazing! She just goes with the flow with everything, eats like a champ, burps like a teenage boy, and falls asleep on her own (and stays asleep!). If I could be guaranteed that all babies were like her I'd have at least 3 more (...and if I didn't have to endure 9 months of fatigue, nasea, and vomitting)! I feel like I'm on vacation! :)
Just as I put her in..."Oh, Mom, this is quite nice"
Munchkin Sports Class
We got Carson signed up for a little sports class that is through the local parks and rec. His buddy Tyler is in the class too. It's basically just a time for the kids to run around in a gym. This last Saturday was the first class I got to go too and Savannah came along for the ride. Carson was very excited to show off to his Mom and little Sister. It was hard to get photos of him because he was movin so dang fast but here are a few...

Big Brother and Little Sister
Here are a few photos of Carson and Savannah. I took these our first night home. Carson has been doing great with her! He loves to help out by giving her blankies/binkies, bringing burp rags, and getting the bottle (just to name a few!). So far he has given her 2 bottles and is very gentle. The only thing we're working on is not "helping" Savannah when she is sleeping. He always means well but she doesn't really need anything when she's sound asleep...good thing she's able to sleep through this most of the time ;)
Today we took Savannah up to his swim lessons and he got to show all his friends his little sister. He was so sweet, as he explained to his friends why she had a binky and why she had gloves on her hands. He gave her several kisses and certainly took was very proud to be a big brother. We have a long weekned coming up so I'll work to get some more photos of the two of them...so sweet! I just love them to death!
Recap of Savannah's Special Day
Apparently, I was on a bit of a high from meeting our little beauty when I committed to updated photos by the weekend :) It’s now been 11 days since our favorite little girl officially entered our lives. She has been absolutely perfect in every way possible. She eats every 3 hours during the day, is awake for 5-10 minutes, and then sleeps until her next feeding. During the night, we are waking little Savannah up every 4-hours so we are getting 8 hours of rest with a 30 minute break in between. This seems to be just enough for both Dan and I. We can’t figure out if it is easier this time around because we are more experienced or if she really is that easy! Either way, no complaints from us thus far.
Now, onto a reflection of the special day...
As you all know, Savannah Michelle was a planned C-Section due to the fact that Carson was a C-Section and we were once again predicting at least an 8lb baby. Since Carson came 2 weeks early (14 days), we decided to be conservative and schedule Savannah’s special day 9 days prior to the due date. I wanted it 3 weeks earlier but was unable to negotiate further than the 9 days. As it turns out, Savannah agreed with this date and hence, put me into labor at 1AM the day of the surgery (approximately 7 ½ hours before the planned time). After a few phone calls to the hospital and the on-call doctor, we decided I should go in and make sure Savannah was able to be monitored. We would still wait for the planned time of 8:30am for the surgery.
After getting off the phone with the doctor, I told Dan (all cozy in the bed) that we needed to go to the hospital. As you can imagine, he was a bit irritated by the fact that we were so close to having a relaxing drive to the hospital at 6am. It seemed a bit like deja vu, except the roles were slightly reversed this time around. With Carson, I wasn’t even able to finish the sentence of “My water broke” before Dan was in the car saying “Let’s Go!.” When he got the news the second time around he took his time brushing his teeth, having a snack, and casually roamed the house to make sure everything was in place. Meanwhile, I’m getting the rest of my things together and bent over in pain every 5-6 minutes. I realized that as we left the house and we were only going 15MPH that I hadn’t gotten my point across clear enough that we needed to pick up the pace!
We got to the hospital at about 3:30 and immediately got set up in a room. I felt much better being at the hospital where I could see our baby’s heart rate and know she was doing okay. By 5:00 the contractions were 1-2 minutes apart and then my water broke, at which time I called for something, anything to help with the pain. As the Sosinski saying goes...high pain tolerance, low pain acceptance. By golly, if there is something you can give me, then give it to me now! By 6:30, the epidural was in place and I was up and joking with my wonderful husband again. Phew! With that wonderful pain medication, I was able to make it to the planned surgery time of 8:30. Savannah entered this world at 8:53 with the loudest cry I could have hoped for.
In the end, we had the date and time right as originally planned but at least now we know that her astrology sign is correct!
